Wanda Sykes may be 5 feet 2 inches tall, but don't let her height fool you. She's a mouthy and sometimes raunchy comedian whose personality -- onstage and off -- is often bigger than life.
Now she's entering uncharted territory. Sykes will be the first gay black woman to get her own late-night show, launching Saturday on FOX.
Career: Sykes has done stand-up, "The Chris Rock Show," her own Comedy Central show, a book, HBO specials and movies, and she plays a painfully blunt best friend on a popular TV comedy (watch some clips). She's even spoken up for a skunk and a cow.
Controversy: Her emcee comments at this year's White House Correspondents' Dinner (with the first couple sitting nearby) took no political prisoners. Did she go too far? Watch for yourself. Her comments about one radio host drew gasps and criticism.
Family: She married her companion, Alexandra, in October of last year. Shortly after that, she came out at a gay rights rally, taking California voters to task for outlawing gay marriage.
She'd been married before -- who was her first spouse? If that isn't surprising enough, you'd never guess what her first job was.
Now she's got two tiny additions.
