Search: Teen declared brain dead by four doctors survives

Steven Thorpe was only 17 when this animal ran in front of his car, causing his friend, who was driving, to lose control and crash. Though four doctors declared him brain dead (what does that mean?), Thorpe's parents pleaded with them to check their son one more time (what did doctors encourage them to consider?). Miraculously, he survived and is now speaking publicly about the experience for the first time.
